Remember when lasers were only used as special effects in Sci-Fi movies? Well, nowadays lasers are frequently used for dental healthcare. Lasers have been used in dentistry for years, and have been used in the medical field for even longer. I’m sure you’ve heard of Lasik and other kinds of laser eye surgery, but how do lasers impact the dental field?
I’m Dr. Aziza Askari of Comfort Dental Spa in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and I incorporate laser treatment into the care I give my patients. There are several reasons why laser dentistry is a large part of my practice.
Lasers help to ease the fear and anxiety you may have during dental procedures. This is because lasers generally do not add any pain to a procedure. They also reduce the need for sedation using anesthetic and help to control any bleeding that may occur.
Lasers can be used for a variety of dental conditions and procedures. I usually use lasers for gum contouring, teeth whitening, fillings, and crown lengthening. Patients suffering from periodontal disease, cold sores and ulcers, and TMJ disorder may be great candidates for laser therapy, as well.
My team and I try to use the most up-to-date technology at Comfort Dental Spa, so that we can give you the best care possible. For more information about the technology in my office, please give us a call at (248) 474-6434.
