Many people have heard of TMJ dysfunction, and most people know that pain of the jaw, head, neck, and back is often associated with this condition. What many people don’t know, however, is what TMJ dysfunction really is. Allow us to enlighten you:

What is TMJ?

TMJ, medically known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome, is a common condition that affects millions of people. Like many oral and general health conditions, TMJ can greatly interfere with your everyday life, causing discomfort and difficulty during normal activity.

The most common cause of TMJ is the misalignment of the teeth, but it’s possible for symptoms to be brought on by stress, an injury, bruxism (teeth grinding), and other problems.
