Tooth ReshapingRegarding your dental anatomy, the crown of your tooth is simply the top part which you can see above your gumline when you smile. Dental crowns (AKA caps) are restorative pieces which can replace, reinforce, and restore a tooth which is damaged. Farmington Hills dentist, Dr. Aziza Askari has improved the smiles of many patients through careful placement of high quality dental crowns. Both form and function are the focus of these small porcelain restorations. CEREC technology offers patients the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of great looking, high quality crowns in one single day.

CEREC Technology

Part of the initial preparation for CEREC includes a series of photographs and impressions. The images, casts, and measurement data are loaded into a computer. Innovative software creates a three dimensional image of your teeth. The look of your new dental crown can thus be predicted. CEREC machines are also capable of milling your ceramic crown to fit your tooth perfectly. The fit will be carefully checked, and all necessary adjustments made before adhering the crown to your teeth with a powerful bonding agent. Dental crowns can be color-matched to blend seamlessly with your existing natural smile.

Porcelain Veneers

CEREC also works for faster porcelain veneers. These thin shells of dental porcelain are cosmetic, but follow the same basic process as dental crowns. When flaws are present, veneers can be bonded onto the front of your smile to offer you a smooth and beautiful grin. Porcelain veneers can mask permanent teeth stains which don’t respond to teeth whitening. Veneers also correct the appearance of misalignment, repair chipped or cracked teeth, close gaps between teeth, and reshape injured or damaged pearly whites. Just as with regular dental crowns, porcelain veneers usually require at least two visits to the dentist in order to wait for fabrication.  CEREC cuts this time down drastically.
