As a child, you learned how to brush your teeth, write your name, and tie your shoes. As with many behaviors, oral hygiene habits develop at an early age. Optimal childhood oral hygiene development is the focus for the Academy of General Dentistry’s new endeavor. Our Farmington Hills dentist, Dr. Aziza Askari, MAGD, will discuss the AGD’s new role in educating parents and children about the importance of dental health.

AGD Turns Attention to Childhood Cavities

Last week marked the launch of the three year campaign, which will employ everything from television and radio public service announcements, to websites, to further the cause of better dental health. The idea is to raise awareness of the importance of childhood oral hygiene to prevent cavities and promote a lifetime of good habits. In collaboration with the Ad Council, AGD will focus on promoting brushing for at least two minutes twice a day every day. This basic brushing tip is what inspired the name for the informational website 2min2x.org.

Academy of General Dentistry Promotes Informational Website

At 2min2x.org, parents can find entertaining videos to watch while brushing that add up to two minutes, including a short clip from Sesame Street’s Captain Super Ultra Mega Smile Man. Parents can also find resources for learning more about childhood oral health and tips for helping their child learn to brush.

Farmington Hills Dentist Encourages Healthy Habits for Life

As a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Askari is proud to promote this initiative to encourage healthy smiles for a lifetime. At Comfort Dental Spa, we encourage you to remember to brush twice daily for two minutes each and to schedule regular dental cleanings with our Farmington Hills dentist.
